Nigeria expected Friday

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are expected to arrive in the country in the early hours of Friday for Saturday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Flames.
According to the travel arrangements released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the West African country’s press, the Super Eagles will travel tomorrow night aboard a chartered plane.
“Officials confirmed yesterday [Wednesday] that the team will leave tomorrow [Friday] night and arrive in Blantyre in the early hours of Friday, and will be able to train on Friday evening on the artificial turf of the Kamuzu Stadium,” reported The Independent of Nigeria on Wednesday.
The paper also reported that already an advance party of NFF officials left Nigeria on Tuesday for Malawi to prepare for the team’s arrival.
But Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda said the Nigerian advance party is not yet in the country and the team only indicated that it will arrive on Friday morning.
“They are not being straightforward. They have not indicated the actual time of arrival and where they will camp. But, as I said, we are used because that is how teams from West Africa operate,” said Nyirenda.
“The only communication they have sent to us is an indication that they will be arriving in the morning of Friday by a chartered flight, but they have not specified the actual time.
“But if the reports [that they are arriving in the wee hours] are true, then they risk spending the rest of the night at the airport because by that time it [the airport] will be closed and they should not cry foul. The good thing is that we are coping all the communication to Fifa,” he said.
However, an official from the Department of Civil Aviation on Wednesday said they were yet to get communication from the Super Eagles regarding their travel arrangements.
“I am the one on the desk now and I do not have that information, unless they have communicated directly with the boss, Bwana Khorowa,” he said.
Efforts to get hold of Khorowa proved futile.
